Bio

Megan Sartori, CPDT-KA has been training dogs and their people professionally for over 17 years. She is certified through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers and a Qualified Guide Dog Mobility Instructor through the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation. She also worked as a Service Dog Field Representative for Paws with a Cause. She holds a BA in Business Management from Clark University.

As a Guide Dog Mobility Instructor, Megan was responsible for all aspects of animal husbandry, temperament assessment and training of the dogs in her care. She worked locally and nationally interviewing visually impaired clients, placing guide dogs, and developing and implementing training programs to remedy problem behaviors in the field. As a Service Dog Field Representative she earned valuable experience with wheelchair, hearing, seizure response, and social support service dogs.

In 2007 Megan transitioned this knowledge and expertise into her own companion dog training business, The Stellar Dog, LLC - Empowering People & Pets. She named her business after her behaviorally challenged terrier-mix, Stella, who taught her so much!

Training Philosophy

Megan is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of people and their canine companions. She employs a reward-based training philosophy grounded in scientific learning theory. She believes that excellent communication, understanding and respect build mutually happy relationships.

Services and Service Areas Services include puppy management and training, dog obedience/manners training and coaching, day training, behavior consultations and modification programs for problem and nuisance behaviors and Service Dog Training.

The Stellar Dog serves the Central Texas areas of North and Northwest Austin and the cities of Cedar Park and Leander. The Stellar Dog serves the communities at Canyon Creek, Crystal Falls, The Domain, Four Points, River Place, Steiner Ranch and Brushy Creek.

Continuing Education

When not busy training, Megan eagerly attends educational lectures and workshops. Most recently she attended a four day seminar with Suzanne Clothier and participated in an intensive week long Assistance Dog Training for Professionals Workshop at Service Dogs, Inc. in Dripping Springs, TX.
